A Jehovah's Witness told me, "All things that are pagan originated with Satan," but isn't that a bit crazy?

I mean, like it or not, there was a world that existed prior to Christianity - are we really to believe that just because pagans did something it means it's automatically and completely tainted with corruption and evil?
