They were conquered so easily, because the people they conquered hated them. For three reasons: They were 'upstarts' in the region, who came to power very quickly. They demanded tribute from the people they conquered. And lastly, they fought constant 'flower wars' against those they conquered, in which they kipnapped sacrificial victims.
