Has Evolution been explained to you at your church by a scientist?

I know some Christians are calling for debate between Evolution and Creationism (otherwise know as Intelligent Design), so I wondered if you hold such debates in your church between bible literalist and a scientist who wants to explain what evolution really means. How have such debates impacted on your views of the origin of animal and plant species?
